A NEW YEAR … A NEW JOURNEY

Picture
Greetings to everyone in this new year of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ! I wish to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am Rev. Dr. Doris Barron-Shell and I am the new Interim Pastor of Montgomery Hills Baptist Church. I am filled with excitement to be with you and eager to meet each and every one of you! I look forward to getting to know everyone. I’m pretty sure that as we go on this new journey, we will find that our shared experiences will show that we have more in common than we may have initially thought.

You may be feeling a certain degree of sadness because of Rev. Hawthorne’s retirement, the added pressure of those New Year’s resolutions, and a bit of anxiety around this new pastoral change. I want to let you know, that the Interim Pastor is here to navigate the transitional change taking place. It is my goal to help to prepare the congregation for the arrival of a new permanent pastor. The Interim Pastor is also a presence that will help you through your emotional experiences that will emerge during this process. Please rest assured that we will travel this road together and embrace this journey by using the powers of love, discernment and commitment. We accomplish this through the use of transformative prayers, the grace of God, the love of Christ, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and hard work.

Our spiritual gifts will bond us together so that great and marvelous things can be accomplished as we move forward! Romans 8:28 tells us, We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. So, let us go forth into this new year by giving thanks to God through our Worship, our Praise and by showing our continuous faith and trust in Him. Because, beloved, it is He that can make all things new!

Together in Christ,
Pastor Doris
