The Power of Saying "Yes"

I was scanning a recent blog by best-selling author and Life Coach Susie Moore, in which she shared 9 little known reasons why we should say “yes” in our lives, and how there is power to be found in saying “yes”.
  1. We block the miracles if we say “no” instead of “yes”.
  2. There are an infinite number of reasons to say “no”; something is stirring “yes” within us.
  3. Someone believes we can.
  4. “Yes” leads to more open doors. (“No” is often closing the door.)
  5. Opportunities do not always rise again, or at least, the same ones.
  6. Life is richer, fuller, and more vibrant.
  7. “Yes” attracts positivity
  8. “Yes” stretches us.
  9. Life is short. Ask not why, but why not?
This blog caught my eye because these 9 reasons seemed to dovetail with some of the lessons we have been learning on Wednesday nights as we have studied the book, Just Say Yes! Unleashing People for Ministry. There is power in saying “yes” in church. We have taken note that “growing churches say “yes” to ministries that declining churches say “no” to.

Too often, churches find themselves saying “no” in a myriad of different ways, often without recognizing it. When churches do this, they may be blocking the movement of God’s Spirit among us and within us. And, they are most likely stifling the creativity, imagination, new ideas, and heart-bursts of God’s people. People need to be unleashed for ministry!

During the month of February, (and one week in March) I am planning a series of sermons on the “Power of Yes!” I hope you will be present each week as we ponder the following topics:
  • February 3: Say “Yes” to the Holy Spirit!
  • February 10: Say “Yes” to Loving!
  • February 17: Say “Yes” to Growing!
  • February 24: Say “Yes” to Encouragement!
This worship series is designed to help us, as disciples of Jesus Christ, embrace the power of the Holy Spirit and to creatively and passionately answer our call to ministry. Will you join us for each worship experience in February! Just say “Yes”!

~In Christ, Pastor Joel
